Obedience is better than sacrifice.

“What is more pleasing to the Lord:  your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice?

Grace and Peace be multiplied abundantly to you in the knowledge of God and Jesus Christ Our Lord.

Every passing moment of our lives we should always ask this question to ourselves "What is my level of obedience to God? Have I improved in living a life of obedience to Him? How obedient I have been to What the Lord has asked of me to do?

Today I want to address an important attitude of the heart that we must all have as Christians and also as servants of the Lord. And that is OBEDIENCE.

In our lives sometimes we are like King Saul who wants to manipulate God by saying I have been obedient to the Lord, but in reality, we have not done everything the way that God asked us to do.

1 Samuel 15:22-23

[22]But Samuel replied,

“What is more pleasing to the Lord:  your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.

[23]Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the lord, he has rejected you asking”

Your sacrifices may mean nothing to God if you haven't done it, the way God asks of you.

I have met people who have proudly profess that they have made so many sacrifices for the work of the Lord and have done so much for him but they have half-hearted heeded what God told them to do.

Remember obedience to God is the highest form of worship we can give Him.

Are you willing to submit to God when you have half-hearted obeyed God in your life? Or do you want to defend yourself like King Saul and say I have all that the Lord asked of me?

Remember in this incident above, Prophet Samuel was the voice of God to King Saul.

If you cannot obey the voice of a man over your life, how can you obey the voice of God?

Be quick to acknowledge when you have made a mistake

God will not tolerate rebellion and stubbornness in your life. So be quick to repent and be quick to make the adjustments in your walk with the Lord.

God in his mercy is forgiving and Gracious to help you to live a life of obedience.

Friends let's examine our hearts before the Lord today and allow him to identify those things that we need to adjust to life?

When we all do that, we will experience transformation in our hearts and character.
